Room 9 Tour of the Solar System

Today at lunch, Room 9 went into the playground and made our own mini scaled down solar system with the Sun (the size of a football), Mercury – as small as a pin head, Venus and Earth the size of peppercorns, Mars the size of a big pinhead and Jupiter the size of a conker.

Mercury was 10 steps away from the sun, Venus a further 9 steps away, then 7 more until we got to Earth and then another 14 to Mars.  Jupiter was 95 steps more and Saturn would have been out of the school grounds and to get to Uranus and Neptune we would have to go down the street!

The universe is huge!
