Room 9 Visit to Curl Aberdeen

download

Room 9 are doing a topic on Scotland and during ICT we researched the Scottish sport of Curling.  We found out a lot, like when and where it was first played (1779 around Stirling and Perth), when it was first part of the winter Olympics(1924)  and who the current champions are (Canada) but we couldn’t find a video we could watch at school.  We wrote letters during a  language lesson to Curl Aberdeen asking if we could pay them a visit.  In the reply we were told we were to young to try Curling for ourselves but we could go and watch a league match on Thursday morning.  After the cold walk down we were pleased that the viewing room was nice and warm – the curlers were all wearing coats and gloves on their side of the double glazing!  We watched a few games before walking back to school.  It was a great fun trip.
