Rockets in Room 9

On Mondays we have been making rockets with Akhil, our science ambassador from Hazelhead Academy.  First we talked about rocket design and the name of different parts of the rocket.  We then made fins and a cone to help our rockets fly high and straight.  When the time came to launch them, Akhil used vinegar and baking soda wrapped in a blue paper towel.  They react and it makes a gas which compresses the air in the bottle.  Then you give it time so the air can shoot out.  Sometimes it doesn’t work but sometimes it works.
