PE: P2 & P3 Basketball

This term the boys and girls at Kingsford are developing their basketball skills and how to play game.

Last week, P2 and P3 focused on how to to be a good dribbler (using both hands but only one at a time, bouncing the ball to hip height, keeping their head up etc). This week they have focused on to perform the bounce pass – you’ll see all the pupils in Room Six have the ball at their tummy with their hands behind the ball! Well done!

P3 have begin using these skills in a small sided team game which shares many of the rules of basketball. Since the baskets in the gym are quite high for this age group, they score when a player in their team catches the ball whilst standing in the hoop. Players are not allowed to stay in the hoop for the whole game because they are not a goalie. Instead, the must move in and out, only going in time to score. The children have to dribble if they want to run with the ball.

Updates will follow about what the P4-7s are learning in Basketball!!
