P6 Cricket Festival 03/06/19

Thirty of Kingsford’s primary six pupils attended the Primary Schools Cricket Festival on Monday 3rd June. The festival was held at Aberdeenshire Cricket Club, located at Mannofield. Aberdeenshire Cricket Club have been delivering their Redball Cricket programme at Kingsford over the last four years to a variety of age groups. The last two years, P6 have attended the festival. As only 15 girls and 15 boys can attend, pupils are selected to represented the school based on their effort and enthusiasm during the cricket programme. The festival gives pupils the opportunity to put the skills the have learned into practise and is a fantastic opportunity to see the club grounds and what they have to offer.

The pupils play in mixed teams, with 7 or 8 girls and boys in each team. Only 10 out of the 15 pupils play at time when fielding, rotating who is off/on when the batters change. Pupils bat in pairs. All pupils get the chance to field, bat & bowl.

The pupils have four hours of cricket matches in the one day! Kingsford played Hazlehead, Ashley Road, Broomhill and St. Joseph’s primaries out of six schools who were there.

Thankfully the weather was on our side for a day outdoors.

Thank you to the club for all their coaching in school and for hosting the festival.

The club offers coaching on Monday & Wednesday evenings, 5-6pm, if your child is interested in going along.
