Kingsford’s First Jr. NBA Basketball Festival
Kingsford’s Basketball Team did us proud at their first Junior NBA Basketball game on Friday 18th January 2019!
Kingsford represents the American Brooklyn Nets for this tournament. There are four other primary schools in Aberdeen also taking part and another 25 across Scotland. The other schools represent other American basketball teams. Kingsford was given 15 Brooklyn Nets’ strips from the NBA and Basketball Scotland which they will wear at all of the Jr. NBA festivals.
The matches are 4V4 and last a total for 32 minutes (four eight minute quarters). Substitutions can be made throughout the quarters so the players get lots of time on court.
Kingsford (A.K.A the Brooklyn Nets) won both of their matches, the first 26-6 and the second 40-8. The team was fast in attack, taking shots close to the basket, and focused on catching any rebounds whilst in attack or defence.
The game was held at Aberdeen’s new Lochside Academy. The team will play every second Friday this term. The Regional Finals take place on Friday 8th March. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us!
Thank you again to all of the parents who helped transport the team to/from the venue.
